Floor Vacuum Cleaners: Dry or Wet, It's Your Best Bet!

Floor vacuum cleaners are vacuum cleaners designed specifically to clean particular types of floors such as hardwood floors. Floor vacuums allow their users to clean up spills as fast as possible and avoid stains. Floor vacuums also help to remove dust and dirt from floors. When dust and dirt is stepped on, it acts like grit and can scratch floors. Floor vacuums help eliminate this issue. Floor vacuums can also have a scrubbing feature which contains six very soft rotating brushes that are good for sticky substances.

Floor vacuums are usually wet/dry vacuums so they help you pick up a variety of spills. Floor vacuums have two canisters that are stacked on top of each other. The top canister in a floor vacuum contains a mixture of cleaning solution and clean water. The bottom canister of a floor vacuum contains dirty water that has been sucked up from the floor.

There are two modes that floor vacuums can be operated in. In the dry pick-up mode, the floor vacuum is used to pick up debris and dust that may already be settled into a hardwood floor. The dry attachment on the floor vacuum should be hollow and shaped like a squeegee.

When the floor vacuum is in wet mode, it is used to pick up liquid spills. This is when the canister full of cleaning solution and clean water is used. On some models of floor vacuums, there is a cap on the canister that doubles as a measuring cup so you can put the correct amount of cleaning solution in with the water. There may also be a trigger on the floor vacuum that releases and shoots an extra dose of cleaning solution for more difficult spills.

Floor vacuums don't work very well on floors that are crooked or planked floors that have a lot of rough spots and edges, but that is true of most vacuums. It does very well at keeping you safe because when water is applied to the floor, it is sucked right back up into the canister. This feature of the floor vacuum cleaner helps eliminate the danger and mess of slipping on wet floors or rugs.
