Upright vacuum cleaners are vacuums that have the pump positioned on top of the suction intake. The bag is positioned on the handle. The handle on an upright vacuum usually reaches to the user's waist so that the user does not need to bend over to move he vacuum cleaner around. This makes it possible for people to use upright vacuum cleaners without much effort or back strain. Upright vacuum cleaners have mechanical beaters (rotating brushes) to assist in agitating the dust to be vacuumed up.
There are two types of upright vacuums. They are:
Single motor upright: The beater brush and the vacuum are both driven by the same motor via a belt on this upright vacuum.
Dual motor upright: The beater brush and vacuum are driven by separate motors on this upright vacuum. This configuration is more common in commercial upright vacuum cleaners.
The availability of upright vacuums is very abundant. Upright vacuum cleaners are great for carpet and they can clean bare floors as well. They sometimes come with a bare floor cleaning attachment or they have an adjustable setting on them designed for cleaning bare floors.
Upright vacuums can be very inexpensive and useful during light and routine cleanings of a home. Upright vacuum cleaners are easy to store and move around easily from room to room. Some models are equipped with self-propelled motors which make the upright vacuums much easier to push. They are also often times equipped with add on attachments like extendible hoses, brushes, steamers and built-in or detachable power cords.
Upright vacuums can come bagged or bagless. Bagless upright vacuums employ a reusable, often filtered canister to collect debris. They use centrifugal force to separate particles from air-flowing through a cylindrical collection vessel. One issue with bagless models is that debris can get caught in the canister filter and the vacuum can lose suction. With bagged upright vacuum cleaners, the traditional disposable bag is used. Some models have a germicidal UV light to kill dust mites and allergens and a light to indicate when the bag needs changing.
Most vacuums come with a filter but there are two different kinds of filters for allergens. There are true HEPA filters that have a sealed airflow system that removes more than 99% of 0.3 micron diameter or larger particles from air passing through its filter system. There is also a HEPA type filter that traps a lesser percentage of dust and allergens.
Upright vacuum cleaners: effortless, economical, easy and effective.
